Day 3 Jan 5, 2012
Walked into work today. Barely get in the door and the boss is cornering me. My thoughts are he is going to send me home. Still missing cars in the parking lot. No not today. He wanted to impress to me the importance of the job that he was going to give to me today. This job is for a company that we had lost. They were one of the largest clients that we had. I need to get some of the parts out today. If they are happy with the parts they could come back to us. Which would mean more work and maybe more employees.
Today the other machinist is not here. Tomorrow is his last day. The boss called us all together. The 3 of us that are here today. To let us know that the other machinist will no longer work here with us after tomorrow. To bad we all knew this alway lol.
The customer supplied the martial for this job. None of the martial is the same size. It is supose to be tube not solid rod. Some is some isn't. I have to machine the martial to the size I need it before I ca machine it in to parts.
At the end of the day the 8 parts he asked for got sent to the customer. Now to see if they are happy with my work.
Stay tuned

Work day Two 1-4-2012
Today started out just like any other. Alarm sounds, snooze a few, finally get up, kiss my wife, push threw the other commuters... Wait there are cars missing. The other machinist (the one that is quiting) and the operator's cars are not here. This could be bad or good.
I walk in lights are off in the machine shop(Lol no one there to turn them on). Over the last few months I have burned threw a lot on my personal and vacation time due to lack of work. So this is a good thing that the others are not here.
Now just 2 more days left before I am the last machinist once again. You ask once again? This isn't your first time being the last machinist? NO it's not, and last time I lost my job due to the fact they didn't need a machinist any more. You have to ask yourself did I stay to long or am I leaving to soon. Finding a new job is scary.
Any ways there was just enough work for a few hours today. And then back to sharpening more drill bits. Just some busy work but the story I am hearing this is all about to turn around. Stay tuned
First work day of the year Jan 3, 2012
A little story of the last machinist.
When I started with this company there was somewhere around 10 - 15 machinist. Today there is 2 left, and one of us had already given our notice.
I am not the one that gave notice.
I am starting a daily blog of my work day being THE LAST MACHINIST ...
Today was a little slow on work today. All the boss had for me today was to sharpen a few drill bits
